We have previously talked about how to set up your work station with proper ergonomics, so check out our previous blogs and videos.
What I want to talk about today, is how these poor choices in posture can impact on your wellbeing. For example, it has been said for a long time that a slumped posture is a diagnostic feature of depression. (2) One recent study looked at what happens when we straighten out our posture. They found an increase in arousal, a positive affect and lower levels of anxiety. (2) Another study found that improving our posture has the potential to assist our sleep, pain threshold, and blood pressure! (1) These studies demonstrate the importance and the far reaching affects your spine and posture has on your total body and brain function! So, if you have noticed that you are feeling a bit flat, not sleeping as well, and just generally struggling to get through your work, book and appointment and let us see if we can help manage this. Also have a look at how you have set up your work space. Make sure that it allows you to have good posture, and make sure that you take regular breaks from sitting and your screens.

The New Face of Holistic Health
Small Changes, Big Results What if better health wasn't about finding one magic treatment, supplement, or exercise, but about helping the whole body work better together? Holistic health is about zooming out. Instead of only asking, "Where does it hurt?" we can also ask: How well is your body moving, recovering, sleeping, and adapting to stress? For many people, chiropractic care can be one piece of that bigger picture, particularly when pain or stiffness is limiting movement and everyday function. Research published in JAMA found spinal manipulative therapy was associated with modest improvements in pain and function for people with acute low back pain. (1) But genuinely holistic health doesn't stop at the adjustment. Think about the other 23 hours in your day. How often do you move? How well do you sleep? How do you fuel yourself? The World Health Organization emphasizes that regular physical activity matters and that reducing sedentary time is important for health. (2) Sleep deserves equal billing. Expert consensus from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and Sleep Research Society recommends that adults regularly get seven or more hours of sleep per night to promote optimal health. (3) None of that sounds revolutionary on its own. The exciting part is how these small behaviors can stack together: a walk here, a stretch break there, a consistent bedtime, mostly whole foods, time outdoors, and appropriate care when your body needs support. Suddenly, health becomes something you build, day by day. At Sprouting Health Chiropractic, that's the kind of big-picture thinking we love: not chasing perfection, but helping people stack small, sustainable wins that add up over time. References 1. When one part’s out of balance, say posture, stress, poor sleep, the whole system starts to sound a little off key.
Holistic health is about bringing that sound back into harmony. At our practice, we look beyond the quick fix and consider how your movement, nutrition, stress, and recovery all interact. That’s what whole person care means. Seeing all the pieces working together, body, mind, and lifestyle, not just chasing symptoms. When the spine and nervous system function well, people often notice better sleep, focus, energy, and mood. Small daily choices. How you move, how you eat, how you breathe, create those shifts. This isn’t about perfection, it’s about momentum. Each positive change nudges your system toward balance and resilience. So the goal of holistic healthcare isn’t just feeling better. It’s living better. More energy for work and play, fewer setbacks, more confidence in your own body. And that’s what we love helping people do. Your nervous system is the master communication network of your body. It influences everything from how you move to how you heal. Here at Sprouting Health we look at the bigger picture—muscles, movement, stress and lifestyle. When those systems are in harmony, the body isn’t just surviving, it’s thriving.
Most people first come to see us because they’re in pain. Back pain, neck pain, headaches, you name it. But what if pain relief is just step one?
Your nervous system is the master communication network of your body. It influences everything from how you move to how you heal. Chiropractic care supports healthy spinal function and kinesiology looks at the bigger picture—muscles, movement, stress and lifestyle. When those systems are in harmony, the body isn’t just surviving, it’s thriving. Testing the muscles lets us know how patent specific nerve pathways are functioning. We can give you instant feedback on where your body function is right now. Example there is a very clear connection between gut function and low back muscle behaviour that we see in practice. Imagine waking up with energy. Moving without that nagging tightness and having the freedom to say yes to the things you love. That’s the bigger picture. Health isn’t just about getting out of pain. It’s about giving your body the best chance to live fully.
